PayRole is pre-release software for setting up a company, recording the people you pay, and understanding the numbers involved.

It is not a payroll bureau, a tax filing agent, a money transmitter, or a licensed financial service of any kind. It does not pay anyone, does not move money, and does not file anything with any authority. Any payroll figure it shows today comes from a clearly labelled sandbox simulation with simplified assumptions, is not based on current tax rules, and must not be used to pay a person or to make a decision with money attached.

• You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what the people you invite to it do.
• Keep your password to yourself and tell us promptly if you think someone else has it.
• One person, one account. Do not share a sign-in between people — the audit trail is only useful if a name in it means a person.

You keep ownership of everything you put in. We hold it in order to run the service for you and for no other purpose: we do not sell it, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not train machine-learning models on it. You can export it, and you can ask for your account to be closed.

• Do not use the service to break the law or to harm anyone.
• Do not attempt to reach another customer’s data, disrupt the service, or work around its access controls. If you find a way to do any of these, please tell us instead — see the security page.
• Do not present sandbox payroll figures to anyone as though they were real payroll, or rely on them yourself.

The service is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. That sentence appears in almost every terms page ever written, so here is the specific version: this software is pre-release, parts of it are unfinished, and you should not yet depend on it for anything that has a deadline or a penalty attached.

Nothing in PayRole is tax, legal or accounting advice. Your obligations as an employer are yours, and they are worth going through with an accountant.

Subscriptions are handled by PayPal. Nothing starts on its own: choosing a plan records which plan you want and takes no money. A subscription begins only when you press the button that says so and approve it on PayPal’s own pages, and you enter your payment details there rather than here.

• A subscription renews each month until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time, in the product or from your PayPal account, and cancelling stops the next charge rather than the one already taken.
• Prices are shown before you subscribe, in the currency you will be charged in. We do not convert a price into a currency we then bill you in differently.
• Prices shown today are provisional and are labelled as such wherever they appear. If a price changes, the change applies from your next renewal and never retroactively — and you will be told before it takes effect, in time to cancel.
• Any taxes due on the subscription depend on where your business is, and are your responsibility unless we state otherwise at the point of sale.
• Paying for a plan buys access to the software. It does not buy payroll processing, tax filing or money movement, none of which this service performs.

Billing for the software and the paying of your workers are entirely separate things. PayPal is not involved in anybody’s wages.

If you are charged for a period you did not want — a cancellation that did not take, a plan you did not choose, a charge after you stopped using the service — write to info@payrole.net and we will refund it. We would rather refund a month than argue about one.

Outside that, a monthly subscription is paid for the month it covers. Cancelling partway through a month stops the next charge and leaves you with the rest of the one you have paid for.

You may stop using the service and ask for your account to be closed at any time. We may suspend an account that is being used to attack the service or to harm someone, and will say why when we do.

These will change as the product does. Material changes will be announced in the product rather than made quietly, and the date at the top of this page tells you when it was last checked against the software.
